i movies 10.3.1

After updating to Big Sur, my iMovies 10.3.1 was not working well. Now it is not working at all! I tried downloading from the app store the software again but it doesn't let me. I have been using iMovies for many years and have never encounter this problem. Anyone???

Various functions do not work. The main thing is I can't get clips on the thread so I can edit and so worth. First it would not import my clips from my memory card. I found a way to get the clips in, but to find out they would not go on the thread for me to work on them. I have never in many years had this major problem.

Oh and no error messages.

I just deleted the iMovies software and now it is letting me download the new software. Maybe the new software from the app will work....keeping fingers crossed!

If still troubles with the redownload of iMovie, try deleting preferences, as that procedure often cures iMovie malfunctions. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
