Sync Messages from my iPhone to my new iPad?

My Messages on my iPhone did not come over when I set up my new iPad.

Can anybody provide directions on how to do that?

This will help you, but also assumes you are using the very same Apple ID on your iPad as you use on your iPhone --> Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support
