Numbers version number and macOS version number would likely be useful in answering this question.

General advice:

Quit all running applications then Press and hold the shift key as you re-launch Numbers.

If the issue continues, shut down the Mac, then do a restart into Safe Mode. Directions for this are different, depending on whether your Mac's CPU. Details here:How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support (CA)
