how can i see my old backups

If you are talking about iCloud backups, you can find them by navigating to Settings > Apple ID (your name) > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups. Now, you can see the backups in your iCloud storage. You can start a backup or manage backup settings by going to Settings > Apple ID (your name) > iCloud > Backups. Here you can turn them off, or force a backup.

What does “see” mean exactly?

• Locate? The answer depends on whether your backup is on a computer or iCloud.
• Inspect? This cannot be done. You may restore the backup if you wish.
