Can't erase to factory settings on my 1 year-old MacBook

I've gone round and round with every option to erase and reset my 13" MacBookAir M1, 2020. No erase setting on system preferences, no on key, it opens and turns o9n and holding down the command and R key does nothing. I've updated to Monterey 12.3.1.
