Updating Apps After Changing AppleID

This is still broken in iOS 15.4.1 (April 2022), despite functional Family Sharing (we switched from a shared AppleID to separate AppleIDs with Family Sharing). App Store insists on signing in with the old AppleID before allowing updates, despite enabled purchase sharing. The only workaround mentioned is to remove all ~50 apps then add them again under the new AppleID, a royal pain. Uhm, why? Is there an easier workaround to restore automatic app updates?

You are welcome.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner. Pick the closest topic you can find.

Yes, signed out/in several times, including power cycling the device. No difference.

Steps to reproduce: (1) All devices on same Apple ID (2) Move all but primary device to separate Apple IDs (3) Turn on Family Sharing for all (which works) (4) When app updates arrive, devices with new Apple IDs cannot access them, until signed in under old Apple ID. Signing out/in under new Apple IDs & restarting makes no difference.

Thanks, but none of this helps. Family Sharing works just fine and we've selected the types of content to share. I've turned on purchase sharing before posting here but it didn't help. It may help for future purchases, but it didn't fix the problem with downloading app updates for previously installed apps.

Perhaps removing about 50 apps then reinstalling them and configuring them again could work but it's a royal pain. It was easier to sign out from the new Apple ID, sign in with the old one after all 2FA approvals, update stuff, sign out, then sign in with the new Apple ID again. This is a one-time fix but it becomes a nightmare if it has to be done for every new update.

There is something wrong with the update logic at App Store which prevents normal updates under a new Apple ID.
