Unresponsive touch id on Monterey

Hi, I have a 14-inch Macbook Pro (M1 Pro) which ran without any issues till yesterday. It ran on MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 and after this issue occurred, I updated to 12.3.1, and no changes.

Suddenly the TouchID function became unresponsive, and it does not detect any fingerprints at all. TouchID does show up in the system preference panel but I can't register any fingerprints.

I tried rebooting into safe mode and it doesn't work even in safe mode. Re-installed the entire macos 8 times, no luck. I Ran Apple system diagnostics, and no issues were found. Has anyone having similar issues?

Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Visit a Genius at an Apple Store

On such a new machine - would not spend too much time trouble shooting and take it to one of the two option in above link.

They have all the special hardware tools to sort this issue out
