Issue with connecting my second monitor to my iMac

I have tried everything with the directions above and my monitors still are not connecting. HELP!!!! I can't get them to connect as a 2nd monitor

Not supported unfortunately:

”The iMac used as a display must have macOS High Sierra or earlier installed.
The other Mac that you're connecting it to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed.

iMac (21.5 inch, Late 2013) Catalina version 10.15.7

MacBook Pro (16 inch, 2021) Monterey version 12.3

Shouldn't it work then? If I'm using the iMac as the display it has Catalina which is earlier than High Sierra and the MacBook is a 2021 and has Monterey???
