Screenshot keeps getting stuck on my desktop

Whenever I take a screenshot, it gets stuck on my desktop that I can't get out of. I'm unable to click on any buttons, and I can’t delete. I've tried all the methods to close out of it each time it happens, like "ctrl + shift + 5" and hitting the escape button. The problem is that this happens every time I use screenshot and it is so frustrating.

What does " it gets stuck on my desktop" mean?

It's just a file and can be treated as any file: copied, deleted, printed, opened by the applicable app and etc.

Maybe you mean Shift+Command+5 as shown here: How to record the screen on your Mac - Apple Support
