I didn't ask about using AirDrop. I have photos on my Mac mini M1 ver 12.3.1 which I would like to transfer to my iPhone 12 Pro. Can you explain how to do it?

The simplest method would be to import the photos into Apple Photos on the Mac and then enable iCloud Photos in preferences in Photos. Then on your phone, in Settings->Photos, enable iCloud Photos and you can chose to download to device or optimize storage.

One requirement is that they both have the same AppleID.

Once set up, you will have your photos available on all devices. Then in the future, any photos you take on the phone will automatically be available on your Mac and any photos you import into Photos on your Mac will be available on your phone.

Another method would be to use iCloud Drive.
