iCloud login from iMac

I can't log in to my iCloud on my iMac. I can log in from other devices.

I can log in through a browser. But I can't log in through system

preferences, iCloud. I just get a "You can’t sign in at this time. Try

signing in again". I have done a comple erase of hard drive and a

reinstall. Still no luck, When I did the reinstall, and it asked me for

my iCloud details, I filled them in and got a "Couldn't sign in because

of a server error. Try signing in again".

I see others have had this issue in the past but none of their suggestions have worked. The only thing I can imagine is that this iMac has serial number which my iCloud account has barred. But I've had the same mac for years (possibly too long but not for this).

Ok. If you are missing this certificate, (and a clean install doesn't mean that you have it), it will fail just like whats happening to you. Install the certificate and see if it fixes it.

  • Go on the Apple certificate page:

Apple PKI - Apple

Download the Apple Intermediate Certificates

  • Double click the downloaded certificate to install it in Keychain Access.

Thank you for your reply, but I'm not sure it is the same issue. At first I couldn't sign out of icloud. I eventually found a terminal command that forced it. Then I couldn't sign in. I have tried to set up a new account. Which it does, but then it simply says "You can’t sign in at this time". So, I wiped the hard drive completely, reinstalled Mac OS, and it is doing the same thing. This is why I think it must have something to do with my iMac's serial number. With the fresh install of the OS all Certificates would have been as they should be. So I am at a bit of a loss for what to do.
