My alarm volume frequently self-adjusts to max volume without my input. Why?

I am very noise sensitive and do not need a max blaster alarm. Additionally, I must wake very early and do not wish to disturb other people who are sleeping. It is extremely frustrating when the alarm on my iPhone resets itself to max volume, despite being turned to the lowest volume possible. Why does it do this, and what can be done to stop it?

Hello Glum_Inspector,

It's recommended you double check your sound settings for your alarms and notifications. The section "How to change the alarm's volume" in the article here: How to set and change alarms on your iPhone can help. The section is also quoted below.

  1. "Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
  2. Under Ringer and Alerts, drag the slider left or right to set the volume. As you drag, an alert will play, so you can hear how the volume changes.
  3. Turn on Change with Buttons to use the volume buttons on your device to change the alarm volume."

Checking your attention awareness and change with buttons feature can also help. Check out the previous post here for helpful information: iPhone alarm is so loud

Turn Attention Aware features on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro

You can also test using a different tone alert or song. Also, be sure your device is fully updated: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If fully updated and the issue continues, reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.

Cheers.
