My email quit unexpectedly yesterday and I lost most of my emails. They are no longer on my laptop or my iPhone.

My email quit unexpectedly yesterday and I lost most of my emails on all accounts both on my MacBook and iPhone. Can I retrieve them?

quit mail;

try rebooting you mac

relaunch mail.app holding the shift key for a bit of a safe launch...compare your results

who provides your email? sounds like a server issue.

For problem accounts the go to way to sort things out is to delete the account, then add it back.

Note—

• IMAP accounts stay on the server, so no local loss, when you re-sync

• POP accounts download and remove from the server—therefor save your inbox/sent box if you want them

• "On My Mac" is just that, local folders you created and moved mail into. So no loss
