Printing off iPad Pro (New Generation)

The Brother MFC-L2700DW is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model with support for the AirPrint technology. This means that you should be able to use this model without an additional app. I guess that you have access to a Wi-Fi router. If so, connect the printer to this router (the connection could be wireless, or wired by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports of the router). Connect the iPad (wirelessly) to the same Wi-Fi router.

If there are difficulties with AirPrint, and if all settings are OK, you could try the following procedure:

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, the iPad, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the iPad. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

iPadOS supports only printing via AirPrint.

Printing via direct connection is not supported.

Some printer manufacturers have a suitable companion App that provides Print capabilities for mobile devices, often using a web-based print service. Others can print directly if the App supports other network printing protocols. For example, some HP Printers use the HP Smart App - available from the App Store:

You might also consider connecting a non-AirPrint printer to a PC or Mac computer - and install a “helper application” that allows the computer to emulate AirPrint capabilities; one such option is Readdle Printer Pro, for which suitable software for PC is available. A further alternative is to consider installing a dedicated Print Server Appliance on your network - and connect your printer to this. One example is the Lantronix xPrintServer.

The remaining solution is to simply replace your printer with one that is AirPrint capable.

It may depend on the printer, but if the printer has a USB cord that you would plug into a computer, you would need a USB-C to female USB convertor. If you search for that on Amazon, you will have lots of options for adapters you could use.

Direct printer connections require installation of device-driver software. iOS/iPadOS do not have any facility for installation of third-party device drivers - unless they are built-in to a companion App supplied by the device manufacturer.

Whether or not you can electrically connect your iPad to the printer with a USB cable is entirely immaterial - unless your printer manufacturer has released an appropriate App via the Apple App Store.

No iOS/iPadOS device supports direct connection printing.

All iOS/iPadOS devices ONLY support wirelsss printing through AirPrint.

Printers need to support AirPrint, as well.

Maybe Brother has a wireless printing app for your iPad that can be used ti help you print from the iPad to your Brother printer wirelessly.
