notification for Monterey

Ho can I stop the notifications for upgrading to Monterey? I don't want it because I don't want to lose 32 bit applications. The constant static notifications are very annoying!

Thanks

You can suppress Monterey from appearing in System Preferences > Software Update/ and the annoying notification— Full Stop.

from your Terminal.app found here:

/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

Terminal User Guide for Mac - Apple Support

I will add— your psswd will not echo on screen type it in anyway, use the enter\return key to proceed.

Nope. Automatic updates are (and have always been) turned off. I still get a banner notification with no "x" to make it go away that just sits there, and if I am not careful will start an unwanted update. It's like a persistent child in a candy store.

You can suppress Monterey from appearing in System Preferences > Software Update,  from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

sudo softwareupdate --ignore "macOS Monterey"

then followed by, copy and paste:

defaults write com.apple.systempreferences AttentionPrefBundleIDs 0 && Killall Dock

you may have to run these commands again if you reboot the machine...
