Battery does not charge after completely drained

Hello,

my Macbook Pro (13'' / 2013 / 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports) does not charge, if the battery is completely drained.

Only by pressing the power button several times it sometimes starts with 0% battery. If it has started, charging is possible without any issues. Battery is good, with 681 cycles.

SMC and VRAM resets did not help.

I have already visited the Genius Bar. They have reinstalled the OS, but the problem persists.

Do you have any ideas, how to fix that issue?

Thanks,

Martin

If by "good" you mean number of cycles only, that doesn't necessarily have any bearing as the 1,000 cycles Apple hypes is only an estimate. What counts is capacity remaining which you did not mention.

Your battery is 9 years old and if its life is not gone, it soon will be.

The question you need to ask yourself is how much time, money and effort do you really want to spend on a 9 yo Mac? You may get a new battery, but everything else is "vintage" and well on its way to "obsolete". It's your call.
