My Macbook pro 13 screen is flicking. I have restarted the laptop and also installed the latest OS version. What should I do now? This has happened before while shutting down. But, now the screen is flicking continuously. The flicking has increased even more within an hour.

Since the issue only appears on the built-in display, then it means the built-in display is bad and needs to be replaced. Diagnostics will not usually show any problems when a display flickers. Besides you have already proven the built-in display is bad with the experiment of using the external display. You will need to have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.

There are a lot of different 13" MBPro models out there. Which one is yours? If I had to guess and it seems I do need to guess here, then I'm betting you have a USB-C model laptop since they have a known design defect with the Display Assembly. If this is the case, then you will need to have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.

Most times screen flickering is due to a bad LDC Panel or video cable, but sometimes it may be an issue with the GPU or software. Connect an external display and enable mirroring to see if the issue also occurs on the external display as well. If the issue only occurs on the laptop's built-in display, then it means the laptop's Display Assembly (LCD Panel or cable) is bad and needs to be replaced.
