adding email account in IOS 9.3

I was having trouble with my Yahoo email account on my old iPad using IOS 9.3. I deleted the account. But when I tried to add the account back, after entering my Yahoo username and password, it would return to the Add Account screen. I reset the iPad: same result. Any suggestions, or is it time to say goodbye to my old friend?

My apologies - a slip of the finger (and mind).

AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft now all now use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.

For Yahoo, more information can be found here:

In common with many other Mail providers, AOL now use App Specific Passwords to access IMAP or POP3 mailboxes.

The Mail App on each of your devices, such as your iPad, now require a unique password to be generated from within the AOL account. This App Specific password intentionally differs from your AOL account password - and can only be used to access your AOL mail.
