Unable to import mp3 into Apple Music on Mac

Thank you for clarifying the steps you tried. To help isolate the issue please try the following steps:

1. Open Quicktime

2. File > Open File > Navigate to one of the songs

3. Confirm the song plays (If the song does not play in this step, we would suggest contacting the content provider for further assistance)

4. If the song plays click on Window > Show Movie Inspector

5. Look under "Audio Format"

6. If this format does not match the file type (for example the song says .mp3 and Audio Format shows AAC), it means the audio file doesn’t have the correct file type.

7. Rename the file by adding the correct extension (for the example above change it from .mp3 to .m4a)

8. Try adding the song to Music

Correction, the file was a mp3 and it did load in the alpha sorted list, just not where expected. See screen shot. Not my idea of a proper sort. aaatest should be expected to be at the top of the list and not between the capital alphas and numbers. Maybe the sort is case sensitive?

This must be another of the many bugs with Music. See "Songs View Jumping to Random Spots After Action", I could not figure how to get the thread number, but there are many defects in Music, mine are currently listed on page 13 of that report which began last year.

A music file from my songs list was moved to my desktop, renamed it to aaatest.aif and dragged and it did not appear to load. My list of all music called songs sorted in alpha by title does not show. However, looking in recently loaded, the file is there and you can move to a playlist and it plays. Why it is not showing in the Songs list where I expect all tracks to be listed remains to be determined, it is late and a mystery for now. Note, loading from a CD does show in the Songs listing. Puzzling.

I run Music on a MacStudio and Monterey 12.4 and iTunes on my 12 year old iMac with HiSierra is a better program with none of these bugs." Give feedback to Apple.com/feedback ..... Music is listed under services, not with applications.
