Monterey Update

I performed the most recent Monterey update on my Mac desktop this morning and it is now continuously restarting to the progress page over and over. I have tried to access safe mode without any luck and fear this computer is now useless. What are next steps?

You do not say what exact Mac is this?

It is unclear what most "most recent Monterey update" you are referring to...?

point update?

macOS upgrade?

What is a progress page over and over...(?)

You can always force quit a shut down, by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.

Force Shut down your Mac.

Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac

Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

Reboot holding the Shift key— and try again launching the installer(?)

If necessary boot to Recovery or Internet Recovery—

Mac’s before June of 2013 do not support Internet recovery

Boot into Internet Recovery (Option Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina/Big Sur/Monterey) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Disk Utility>View>Show All Devices The best sequence is —

• Volume level

• Container level

• Parent drive
