Lately my 2nd generation Apple Pencil only works intermittently. I have reconfigure it, reconnected bluetooth, changed the tip, but it still behaving the same. Any advise?

When replacing the Pencil tip, ensure that the replaceable plastic pencil tip is screwed firmly (i.e., finger tight) into the body of the Apple Pencil; even a slightly loosened tip will cause issues. When correctly positioned, there should be a tiny gap (around the full circumference - of about the thickness of a sheet of paper) between the tip and the body of the Pencil.

Have you tried a simple hard reset of your iPad?

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset procedure for the new 2018/2020/2021 iPad Pros, 2020 iPad Air 4 and 2021 iPad Mini 6 models.

1. Press and release the volume up button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume down button.

3. Then, press and hold the single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

Best of Luck to You!

Good result.

Remember that your Pencil is an active electronic device. While Apple Pencils are generally robust, the Pencil tip protects the metal transducer component that interacts with your iPad screen. If dropped onto to tip, or used roughly, the transducer can be easily damaged.

Always protect your Pencil, treating it with care. Never place it unprotected in a bag or backpack.
