Changing Apple Watch from family setup to kids first phone

Hi. I setup my kid’s watch using my iPhone and family setup. It has cellular and a standalone EE watch plan.

Now I have bought my kid an iPhone with an EE pay monthly sim. What is the best way to transfer the watch from my phone to her phone and keep all the content etc?

when someone calls her new phone number I assume it will ring on the watch as well as it’s linked to her Apple ID, even though the watch has a different phone number?

can I still setup school time mode on it when I move it across to her phone?

thanks!

Hello alexgrainger,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you have questions about setting up your child's watch with their own iPhone. You can use Screen Time and Parental Controls after you have transferred the watch to the new iPhone.

First unpair the watch from your iPhone: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Then pair with the new one and your child's Apple ID: Set up and pair your Apple Watch with iPhone - Apple Support

Then you can set up Screen Time and Parental Controls: Set up parental controls with Family Sharing on iPhone - Apple Support

They would receive phone calls and text messages to the phone number associated with the watch: Answer phone calls on Apple Watch - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
