My Apple watch suddenly stopped waking when I raise my wrist. The display and brightness setting IS set to "wake when wrist is raised". Is there another setting that might have gotten changed by accident?

Check to see if you may have accidentally activated Theater Mode. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to Control Center. Check to see if the icon of the two theater masks is turned on.

Is the Watch unlocked and on your wrist comfortably, not loose? Try resetting your Watch. Press and hold the Digital Crown and power button until you see the Apple logo and then release. The Watch will reboot. Test then.
Thanks to all of you who responded. I wasn't even able to find the "theater on" icon until I rebooted the watch and it was indeed turned on. Got it turned off and now it appears to be working correctly again. You folks are the best!!
Check in control centre to see if you have either of these turned on and turn them off;
