Hi, Puppy-pup, no, it won't cause any issues, having the wifi on while being connected by ethernet..... I'd suggest if you're setting up a Wifi network, that you use the 5Ghz band and a higher channel, rather than 2.4 Ghz, which is more susceptible to interference

As the others have mentioned, this shouldn't be an issue.

One thought that comes to mind. Your Mac will attempt to connect to the network in order of the listed connection types in: System Preferences > Network. As @Allan Jones has noted, an Ethernet connection typically offers significantly more bandwidth than Wi-Fi and is not affected by wireless interference. As such, and if not already, make sure that the Ethernet connection is at the top of the list of connection types. If not, you can simply select the "circle with dots," and then, choose the "Set Service Order" option to change it.

Alternatively, you can create new network Locations for each of the connection types. For example, one for Ethernet, and the other, for Wi-Fi. Then just switch locations as desired.

Based on what you just stated, it sounds a bit more like either a DNS or overall latency issue between your Mac and the Internet sites you are visiting.

By default, you most likely will be using the DNS servers provided by your ISP. Using alternative ones may prove more efficient. There are a number of ways to "troubleshoot" this. Let us know if you want any assistance doing so.
