Can't install macOS Big Sur 11.6.7

Hi ... there is something odd with Big Sur 11.6.7...

I tried to install as usual with sudo softwareupdate -ia

after a quite a while i got "Downloaded: macOS Big Sur 11.6.7"

then I restarted but nothing happened, it just rebooted the system.

Repeating softwareupdate -ia gives me another "Downloaded: macOS Big Sur 11.6.7"

(without downloading again)

Same behaviour on two systems.

I never experienced something like this on MacOS...

Any tips on how to recover and start the actual installer ?

(I can't even find it)

figured it out

--> delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist

--> sudo softwareupdate -ia downloads 11.6.7 again, but it doesn't start the update.

--> start the update via System Preferences / Software Update

most likely another sign of apple not caring about / breaking the command line functionalities
