Why do i get a greyed out screen when I connect a 32” Samsung 4k monitor to my MacBook Pro (2019)?

Thank you for your response. I opted for using the j5 create USB-C to 4k HDMI. Adapter and bypassing my 4 port router and connected directly to the PowerBook. It works! Just lost contact to my Wacom tablet. Updated the driver with no change. Probably need to update the tablet.
