missed call not showing

The issue I’m having is basically while I’m home throughout the night until i wake up, when i pick up my phone i have no missed call notifications, i don’t even have the red circle icon on the phone app to show how many missed calls i have. The only way i know is if i get a text from someone saying they’ve been calling or if i get ready to call someone and i go into the phone app; then, i see that i have missed calls because the names and numbers are in red.
