Trying to upgrade my 2011 iMac to Mojave

The support website says I should be able to upgrade to Mojave ... but when I tried to download it, it said not compatible... so is there no way to upgrade this old iMAC... that I love so much, and it works fine for now.

Hi,

Go to the Apple Menu > About This Mac to see exactly which Mac you have, then find out if it is compatible with a newer OS here: How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support

Before upgrading, backup, check apps and peripherals for compatibility with whichever OS you decide to upgrade to.

OK, you downloaded the Combo Updater not the whole installer. :)

If you get a corrupted message...

Naw, not damaged, it's just that you have an old copy already in Applications, there are 2 cures...

Disconnect from the Internet & set the Date back to 2014, then you can run the Install MacsOS High Sierra App in Applications, so expired Certificates are not expired.

Or... trash the Install MacsOS High Sierra.app in Applications, empty trash & restart, then a new copy of a more recent version can be downloaded…

Is appears the user is attempting to install an Update for High Sierra found from Apple - Support - Downloads (CA)

That is not A FULL Version of High Sierra

The Age of this computer will Govern what newer version of macOS it will Qualify to install. Use About this Mac from the Apple Icon on Desktop - the required Information will be there.

With the above information in-hand - follow this How to get old versions of macOS and verify what version this computer Qualifies to install.  For Best results use Safari to commence the download as Others may not work.

Safari will open a redirect and open the Apple Store where the download can commence.
