Transcend jet drive disappears

Transcend jet drive disappears after sleep. Before any smarmy answers, yes I expect the drive and all drives to stay mounted after sleep. The issue is a Monterey error, not the maker of the expansion drive. All drives should be there. Solutions only, no commentary on what you think personally.

I don't have a fix but have you tried the workaround that most use until a fix is found? That is not putting the machine to sleep, only the screen via screensaver. With SSDs there are no mechanical parts to wear out so don't need to put them to sleep.

Just some food for thought.

Ok, by turning off sleep , so it never sleeps, the drive remains mounted but programs cannot access that external drive. You can see it, it is not ejected but it is dead to me. Programs that try an access that disk go into a spinning ball.

So at what point does the drive become unreachable? Your computer is no longer sleeping, what event triggers the inability to use the external drive?

Do you have any third party drive utilities (e.g. from Transcend) or firmware that are used with that external drive?

What is the enclosure being used with the Transcend drive? How is is it connected to the Mac?

It would help if you could download Etrecheck and run it and post the results here, using the Additional text button below. The reason I suggest that is that many of us, including me, use myriad external SSDs and our Macs sleep and wake up and everything stays connected and is usable, as they should. Mine are connected via USB-C or Thunderbolt and some also via an OWC dock. That makes me think there might be something installed that is causing the problem. Etrecheck may reveal that.
