MP3 files aren’t showing on my new MacBook

I used to download songs using YouTube mp3 converter on my old MacBook. The songs automatically opened on music app and I could sync those songs in my iPhone. However, when I synced songs from my iPhone, they synced but the songs aren’t showing on my new MBA M1. I tried downloading the songs from the internet using the mp3 converter. When I double click the song, the music app automatically opens but the file isn’t playing nor shown. My old MacBook was running big sur. New one is monterey 12.2.1. I don’t use any music streaming apps as they aren’t available in my country.

Judging from a number of recent posts it is possible that your conversion tool is downloading in AAC (.m4a) format but saving the file with an incorrect .mp3 file extension rather than being properly converted into valid .mp3 files. Other media software may ignore the discrepancy, but not iTunes or Music. Edit the extension or find a better tool.

i checked their info and yes they were in wrong format. So I downloaded them using another converter and they are showing on the app. Thanks for the help! Can you suggest me the best external hard drives for time machine backup?

I don't know why that might be happening, You may need to change your workflow for obtaining music files.

Autoboot is the default behaviour in newer MacBooks. See https://osxdaily.com/2017/01/19/disable-boot-on-open-lid-macbook-pro/.

Typically Music is set up to copy files to the media folder when they are added to the library. This allows the library to organize the tracks you've added to it. You would typically delete the originals in the downloads folder after adding to the library, or instead move them from the downloads folder into <Media Folder>/Automatically Add to Music as a way to add the files to the library without generating duplicate files.
