I'm attempting to add a new account to my mail app on my MacBook.

I have followed the typical steps to take to add an email address, however even though it seems to have gone through, the new email is still not added to my mail app, and I cannot receive or send emails through that account on the mail app, only when I open a browser and use Gmail, what can I do?

Mail is a portal that allows local control of a web account.

When you did as instructed in the referring article, what went wrong? What error messages did you get? Does gmail require a one-time use password? I ask because I don't use anything google but I know some mail clients require a single use password for each setup..
