Home sharing folder

What folder is accessed by AppleTV home sharing? Can I simply drag media into it, or must I import it?

Home Sharing is basically accessing a database of file locations. It is not a single folder per se. The content that is shared, is the local files that have been added to the Library of the iTunes application or TV app (and Music app). Think of it more like client and server in computing.
