My Apple TV won’t connect to my WI-FI. The password is incorrect.

I can’t get my Apple TV to connect to Wi-Fi. It says the password is incorrect. It will not allow me to forget the network so that I can put the password in. I have a 3rd Generation Apple TV.

  1. Try the Other… option instead of selecting a listed discovered network. Especially if the password has been changed.
  2. Verify that the router or access point isn’t set to use WPA3, as only device models from ~2018 or later support that. Instead use WPA3+WPA2 Transitional.

It is a bit difficult to do a step-by-step for modem-routers, as there are so many models and they all operate a bit differently for settings. Many modem-routers have settings that are accessible through a browser. See its manual (it should list the URL or IP). I would suggest to look around its settings, without changing anything, until you find a mention for “security”, “encryption”, or “WPA”.

I could show you my settings screen, but your settings will be differently organized.

If you got your modem via your ISP, then ask them for assistance on these WPA settings.

If you bought the modem through a store, then ask the manufacturer for support.

I have tried the other option too. It hasn’t worked either. I’m not super technical, so I’m not sure I understand how to do the WPA3. I’m sure that is probably the issue. I just got a new modem and everything was working fine. If I can‘t it to work I have another way to get the Apple TV content. Just frustrating. Thanks so much for your response. I appreciate it.
