There are three buttons on the left side of your phone and none of them affect whether or not you receive calls. However, they can all affect whether or not you have an audible notification of an incoming call. The bottom button raises the volume. The middle button raises the volume. The top button, actually a slider, will mute system sounds. If you slide it toward the back of the phone (you'll see a band of orange next to it when you do that), you won't hear any system sounds. You will hear call notifications from favorites.
