MacBook Pro won't sleep and UI lags after update

Hi 👋 everyone,

I have upgraded to Mac OS 12.5 and my Mac won't sleep when lid is closed. I have tried the SMC process and any other info from the internet.

Whenever I close the lid, the apple logo still has the light turn on.

This wasn't the issue before my upgrade.

My applications UI also tends to lag (e.g. vscode, chrome browser, and anyother third-party applications) when I launch them.

Below are images of the problem I'm facing.

Any help?🙏

Closed lid

UI laggy (Vscode)

You do not say what exact Mac is this...?

There are over 52 models of MBP released since January 2006— at least 20 that are capable of running macOS 12.5

Newer Macs have no light behind the Apple on the lid...

try a SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

If you can not shut down or reboot—

You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.

Force Shut down your Mac.

Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac
