my Apple speakers work when I test them but I'm not getting the sounds that happen when you do things?

My iMac has gone silent. None of the background sounds when you do something wrong or open something. When I go to Sound and test things it works. But still nothing.


iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Have you tried reboot you machine...

Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support



See anything insightful here—

If the internal speakers on your Mac aren't working


Verify "Do Not Disturb " did not get turned on...

Turn a Focus on or off on Mac - Apple Support
