Is turning off find my mac necessary if I erase the hard drive before sending in for repair?

On the genius reservation confirmation web page, there is this message,

" To service your Mac, Find My Mac will need to be temporarily turned off."


That should be good idea to help them access the Mac.

Some apparently Erase; some do not erase before service.


The inability to 'turn off' Find My Mac will not prevent Apple's ability to fix your Mac.
