iPod Mini (2004) gives me an error when turning on.

Hey all,

I'm here trying to figure out why my iPod mini keeps giving me an error, more specifically it gives me a warning sign, a lil' iPod with a dead sad face, and a " www.apple.com/support/ipod " link. As shown here:

I tried restarting by clicking the click-wheel button and the menu button at the same time for eight seconds and still gives me the support screen. Albeit with the apple logo appearing then the support screen appears.

I know it can be connected because when I connected to my PC it makes it noise as it connects but no folders appear, and iTunes does not give me access to the iPod.

If I put it charge it gives me a charging screen but no animation, and sometimes restarts back to the support screen.

I have no idea what do to at this point. I just want to listen to my music! :(

The hard drive has probably failed. See If you see a red X icon on your iPod classic or iPod nano (5th generation or earlier) - Apple Support (archived copy).
