googlemail can't be added as mailaccount on mac

When adding a new Google email account to Apple Mail I'm directed to a page where I am supposed to choose a web brower, but all I get is the spinning gear icon. Suggestions or Solutions?

(Leroydouglas answered this question before but it cab't be read anymore)

The following Discussion suggests you need to be using Safari as your default browser for that Google authentication to work: Can't add google account to Monterey - Apple Community.


Try that.
