AppleTV App on Firestick

The AppleTV app will not allow me to watch certain movies. Tells me to sign in but I am signed in. I can watch most things but not all. Some movies/shows want me to "sign in" but I'm already signed in and have an active account. There is no way to access signing in again at that point. Why and how can I fix this? Thanks!

The movie Massive Talent is not part of the Apple TV+ subscription. The movie is available for buy or rent instead in the Apple TV app.

The Apple TV app on Fire TV currently doesn’t allow in-app purchases on that platform. You may do the transaction on a different supported device, then watch it on your Fire TV device. [1]

Hi Duchessfeathers,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! Do you have an active Apple TV+ subscription? Some shows/ movies do require a subscription in order to watch them. Check out: Watch movies, TV shows, and live content in the Apple TV app - Apple Support.

If you have an active subscription and are still unable to steam certain shows/ movies, you can try the following steps:

1. Check the System Status page for service interruptions or check a third-party provider's website for any interruptions. If there are service interruptions, try to stream or watch the video later.
2. If you're having trouble signing in with your Apple ID, you can reset your Apple ID password or learn how to get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication.
3. If your cellular connection is poor, connect to Wi-Fi instead.*
4. Try watching on a different device using the same Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If it doesn't work, contact your internet service provider to see if there's an issue with your network.
5. If other people are using Apple TV+ or Apple TV channels, make sure it doesn't exceed the limits for streaming on multiple devices.

If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app - Apple Support

Hope that helps!

Hi and thanks. I have an active AppleTV subscription. I can view most everything on the app with a few exceptions. It will not allow me to watch certain movies - it tells me I can watch with a current subscription. I have the subscription and I’m in the darn app. The app works for most all other shows.

As an example, it will not let me watch the movie Massive Talent. It tells me “how to watch” - but I’m in the app I’m paying for and have logged in or I wouldn’t be able to watch anything else. Its weird. The tv sits next to the router for my Verizon FIOS service. It’s the app that is the issue but it’s strange because it’s apparently movie-specific as to what it will let me watch. Since I’m signed in and cannot sign in a second time, how do I make this work? Thanks!

Hi Duchessfeathers,

We want to make sure we're on the same page here. Are you attempting to watch this through the Apple TV+ app, or through another streaming service? Not all content that appears on Apple TV+ is free, the subscription includes Apple TV originals, but you may need to purchase additional content.

Let us know more about what platform you're trying to watch this through, and we'll go from there.

Thanks.

Hi and yes, I am trying to watch via the AppleTV app. I pay for the app monthly. If I need to pay for the movie, fine, but there is no option available to either re-enter my login or pay for it. I am using a Fire Stick. I can watch most other content on the app. No problem with their shows or most movies, but definitely an issue with specific movies. Thanks.

The problem is there is no way to pay for the movie. If there is a way to do it, it’s not clear.

If you want to make a purchase, then please do so on a different supported device: e.g. on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, or PC with iTunes application.

Once the purchase transaction is done, you will find the title in the Library tab of the Apple TV app on any of your devices, including on Fire TV.
