I have an iMac running Big Sur 11.7 that I regularly wish to access files on from a MacBook running Monterey 12.6. Here are three folders on the Big Sur iMac that I wish to regularly access:
From the MacBook I can see all the files in Pictures and Movies, but can see no files in Documents. It shows a file count of zero. I have no idea what is wrong here. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your response. Two questions:
1) The privacy restrictions are not implemented through POSIX permissions.
2) Use the Go to Folder shortcut, cmd-shift-g, then enter the path.
The SMB daemon doesn't have access to your documents.
You can try adding smbd to the Full Disk Access list in Security & Privacy. It is in /usr/sbin/
