Map Routes and ETAs Not Adjusting/Updating in Real Time

I am currently on iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16.0.1. I was previously on iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 15 and did not have this issue...

When using Apple Maps with my previous iPhone 13 Pro, I could enter a destination, let Maps show the routes, and (without hitting GO to start turn-by-turn directions), my routes and ETA would update in real time as I drove.

Since moving to the 14 Pro, the routes and ETA are no longer updating as I drive... The GPS shows that it's tracking my location, but the routes and ETA always appear as if I had never started driving (the routes stay dark blue even though I've already driven miles and miles and the ETA just keeps increasing to show the ETA from my starting point).

I've read about some other known bugs with Maps in iOS 16, but have not seen anything about this exact issue. Is anybody else experiencing this? Any suggestions for possible resolutions (aside from the usual restart phone, double-check settings on Location Services)? I'm hesitant about trying any Resets or Restores because I've already had to re-login to all of my apps/websites once, but if that's what will solve this problem, that's what I'll do.

Thanks!

iPhone 14 Pro

Hi SeanOsman,

Thanks for posting in Apple Communities.

With Apple Maps not updating your route as you drive, first start by backing up iPhone and updating to iOS 16.0.2 in Settings > General > Software Update. The update contains many bug and performance fixes.

For ongoing behavior, check that the time and date are set correctly in Settings > General > Date & Time. You want to have Set Automatically enabled.

Check that you have cellular enabled for Apple Maps in Settings > Cellular. The green button should be on for Maps.

Location Service for Maps access should be enabled in Settings > Privacy > Location Services. This should be set to "While Using" to locate your active location.
