How to fix a spinning Siri on CarPlay?

how to fix a spinning Siri on CarPlay? None of my phones are working with Siri on Apple CarPlay. **Carplay itself is working, ie, Music, Waze, etc…just nit Siri and Siri with any playback. So, I can’t hit the “Siri” button and ask it to call anybody. When receiving a text, it looks like it’s reading it, but no sound. I can’t reply either. I have tried the usual activities. I have disconnected and also deleted all my phones from CarPlay. All my phones have been tried before and after OS upgrades. Siri is enabled. All phones have been rebooted. All phones are properly setup in screen time and other recommended settings.

im at a loss…anybody able to help?

Hi StevenDeBates,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. If Siri is not working while using CarPlay, here are a few steps to try:

  1. Confirm that the steps listed in this link were taken to rule that out: Use Siri to Control CarPlay - Apple Support
  2. If the issue persists, scroll to the bottom of the article in step 1 to try the steps listed under Tip.
  3. If the issue persists, contact Apple Support here: Contact - Official Apple Support

Have a great day.

The steps in the email didn’t work, but, I will close the loop with the resolution.

i’m not sure why, but this appears to have been a multi-day update in the Car. Whether that be CarPlay or not, is unclear. My car had said there were no updates available or pending, but it became evident after about 4 days, that something was updating. I slowly started to see new pop up windows in Waze as well. I truly wish there was a way to make it known there’s an update happening, as the symptoms were such that it felt as though I was having a console or radio issue. I was all set to take it to the dealership, as I rely heavily on my CarPlay for speech to text and hands free features.

I don’t know at this point if that’s a car manufacturer issue or Apple, but would be great to see that fixed so the driver can know what’s truly going on.

for now, issue is closed, and I chalk it up to a longer than expected (or desired) update process.
