New iPad synchs to my old iPad

I bought a 9th Generation Apple iPad, and transferred everything correctly from my older 7th Generation iPad. My new iPad and older iPad keep synching. How do I stop my new iPad from synching to the older one. Only want to maintain one iPad, the newer 9th Generation iPad.

Having transferred your data from your old to new iPad, if your intention is to completely “retire” the old iPad, simply follow this procedure:

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

The process will remove the Activation Lock that will prevent reuse of the iPad, sign-out from iCloud and your AppleID - and securely erase the iPad. When complete, the iPad will be ready for trade-in, being sold or given away, or reused with a different AppleID.
