Not receiving iMessages from a specific person across all my devices

I can send and receive iMessages to anyone and it will sync across all my devices without any problem, except one, which happens to be my dad.


When he sends me an iMessage, it will send to my iMac and an older iPad I use occasionally, but not my iPhone, MacBook, Watch, or main iPad that I use.


It's an odd one I know, any suggestions? Basically, I keep missing messages from him so would like to get it sorted.

Messages on Mac are forwarded through an iPhone.


  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. On your Mac, open Messages, choose Messages > Preferences, then click iMessage. Make sure that you're signed in to iMessage with the same Apple ID on all your devices.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding.*



Since you said the same iMessages is not on your iPhone there are only two possibilities

  1. The messages are deleted on your iPhone. Enable  Guided Access before handing over an iPhone to kids
  2. The message is forwarded from another iPhone to Mac/iPad which uses the same Apple ID but a different Phone number. Please call the person (in your case Dad) who sent you the messages and get confirmation about the phone number to which the messages are being sent.

Thanks SravanKrA. Think you are right about the second option. I notice on all the devices that he could send an iMessage too, it was ones where I had my email address ticked for send and receive, which makes me think for some reason he is sending iMessages to me via my Apple ID email address rather than my phone number. He's on holiday at the moment, but will look at his phone when he gets back.
