Child’s iPad Screen Time Resets

I control my children’s time

on their iPads with the Screen Time app, limiting their usage and setting restrictions. Recently the screen time settings have been resetting every day. Sometimes, they switch back right before my eyes as I am setting them. I have the most updated iPadOS installed on the iPads 15.7 I have iOS16.0.2 installed on my phone. This issue only started happening when I updated to iOS16. I am tired of setting the Screen Time limits everyday. Does anyone know of a solution or fix??? I don’t know if the difference in iPadOS vs iOS16 is the culprit? When will iPadOS16 be released so this maybe fixed???

Hello RyanU2022,

If you haven't already, we suggest you disable Screen Time completely, and then setting it up again: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

If you've already done this, or if the issue isn't resolved after doing so, we suggest you contact Apple Support. They will be able to look into this with you further.

Have a great day!

Just updated the kids iPads to iPadOS16.1. At first it seem like the settings were changing back still even after the update. Low and behold, I updated the Wife’s iPad Air and now all our devices in the house are up to date. So far, the settings have been in and staying in. Tomorrow will be the ultimate test to see if the settings for screen time stay on. So, if you are having the same issues, try updating all your devices to the latest iOS to see if that helps. Ensure all your devices are updated, because even if one device isn’t updated, it may affect the settings. If this doesn’t help, I would get in contact with Apple. For reference: we have four iPads, two iPhones, two Apple Watches, Apple TV, iMac, and Mac Book. All are updated except the Mac Book, that is a 2012 model.

At first updating iOS seemed to work, but a few days later the screen time has begun to reset again. But we solved the problem for a few days now, and I’m pretty sure it may have been fixed. We have family sharing with my wife and kids. I noticed that every time my wife was giving them more time when they request screen time, it was resetting the screen time settings. She is listed as a parent/ guardian on our Family. I removed her from our account completely… and then had her come back after a few minutes. I set the kids screen time limits and they have been in effect for almost three days. Wife has been authorizing time and getting the notices. So, I think we had an issue with her account not updating properly the screen time settings. I would recommend trying this if your screen time keeps re-setting, and you have more than one parent guardian on the Family account. Hope this helps!
