can I use my 21.5 inch imac late 2009 model as a "target display" for my new macbook air? I connected them using the recommended cables ie. thunderbolt cords etc but still not working?



iMac, macOS 10.13

You can use that model iMac as a display with certain other Macs, but a new MacBook Air is not one of them.


Refer to Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support.


It's no substitute for TDM but you can use Screen Sharing: Share the screen of another Mac - Apple Support.
