I am Unable to Log Into the Facebook App on my iPhone 13

In light of all the hacking and craziness happening with Facebook I turned on my 2FA.

After I did that I can no longer access my account via the app. I receive an error stating "An Unexpected error has occurred, please try logging in again. "


I have tried the following troubleshooting options with no luck:

  • Resetting my password
  • Deleting the app, clearing all safari cache, restarting my iPhone
  • Removing Facebook from my iCloud and Purchase history, re downloading the app
  • Logging in on mobile safari and then trying the app
  • Turning off the 2FA
  • Finally I tried a different iPhone (and old SE I have) and was able to log into the app no problem. Perhaps something is connected to my device ID or?


I'm afraid I have run out of ideas, and have not been able to get into my app. I am hoping maybe someone here has seen something like this and could help me.

Once last thought --and it would fix it.


Restore your iPhone from a Backup:

Have any backups of this iPhone prior to this occurrence? If so, restore your iPhone from one that has these photos (the most recent backup, ideally). If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always back up your device for recovery purposes. Important: Back up you iPhone prior to performing this restoration, should anything go wrong from here on out.

I have auto back up on, so I had a back up from 2 days before the error started. : I did a full rest and backed up to that back up and I am in!! Still not sure what the core issue was, and I lost some limited data in the back up, but I am in. Thank you TheLittles!!!!"

You are welcome. The issue was probably a sign out of sorts that needed to be performed correctly. IDK.

No Backup? Install this anew...


You Should Reset this Up Anew:

Reset this iPhone anew, as if you were to sell it. You'd log out of iCloud on it. Perform the reset, and then proceed form there, having them sign in to their own iCloud account on it upon setup. Go here: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support


Important: Create a backup of your iPhone prior to performing this. In doing so, you will have something to restore you iPhone from, should anything go wrong with this.

Geting an App to Operate:

Is there an method of payment on your Apple Account? If not, then you need to add one. You need at least on method of payment assigned to your account. This is because even green apps have promotions to purchase things with them. So, add a method of payment. Go Here: Change, Add, or Remove Apple ID Payment Methods - Apple Support

Unfortunately this did not work. Whatever is causing the issue must be stored in my iCloud or something.

I tried logging into my fiances FB's on my phone and got the same error, so it is definitely something glitching with the phone, iOS or iCloud and not the profiles themselves. Other then deleting my entire iCloud, I am not sure what to do anymore.

Logging into the Facebook App:

Being that all is successful on a different iPhone, it seems to me that you need to back things up, and then set up you iPhone anew, as if you were to sell it. Perform as instructed here, including the backup and iCloud logout.: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade In your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. Once set up anew, see if it then works.
