Family member can interact with my devices from findMy app even if I turn off location sharing

How to stop and prevent completely showing my devices in a family member's FindMy app. I turned off location sharing, which succeed to prevent the family member from seeing the location of my devices, but the devices are still listed in his/her FindMy app where he/She can do actions like play sound.

the reason I add family members is to share iCloud storage space only and I don't want to share a control over my devices with family members. Is there a solution?

Does Apple know this problem in frist place ?

Thank you for your reply. Actually, the family members having their own Apple ID , they can't see my location. This is not the problem.

My problem as described in the question is family members see my devices (not location), they can't identify the location of my devices but they still see the devices it self in their FindMy app. this enables them from interacting with my device by playing sound or more..

Hi Karina 184, I stopped the location sharing as mentioned in the original question and this stopped the family members from seeing my location, but they can still see my devices. The problem I have is family members see my devices, not about seeing my location.

my family members can't see my location but they can see my devices and interact with, this is the problem I'm asking a solution for.

I hope that this question could reach apple product manager to review the issue from my angle as it is against Apple principle of privacy as Steve jobs declared " Privacy means nothing shared without having the user accept and acknowledge "

Hi zakaria265,

Thanks for reaching out and we’d like to help.

Looking at the article about Family Sharing and Location, if you choose not to share your location with other family members, they should not be able to see your location either. Which is mentioned in your post was done.

Share your location with your family - Apple Support

If you don't share your location, family members can’t access location information about your devices. Without location information, family members can still help you. They can check your missing device's online or offline status, play a sound on the device, put the device in Lost Mode, or remotely erase the device.

With Family Sharing, everyone should have their own Apple ID. Here's why this can be an issue:

Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID - Apple Support

From what you're describing, it sounds like perhaps your Apple ID is being shared. If this is the case, the above article has steps to help remedy this:

Help your family member create an Apple ID, then set up Family Sharing
To avoid issues caused by sharing an Apple ID, set up an Apple ID for each family member and set up Family Sharing.
1. On the family member's device, sign out of iCloud.
2. Ask your family member to create an Apple ID. If the family member is under 13, create an Apple ID for your child.
3. Ask your family member to sign in to iCloud with their new Apple ID on their device.
4. Set up Family Sharing and invite the family member to your group.
5. Set up purchase sharing. If you have children in your family, you can also set up Ask to Buy
6. Now you can share purchases, subscriptions, and more with your family.

Cheers!

Hey zakaria265,

To make sure we understand, you're not wanting other family members to see your device, correct?

"You can see your family members’ devices in Find My if you set up Family Sharing first. Their devices appear below yours in the Devices list." For more information, click here: Add your iPhone to Find My.

Hey zakaria265,

Understood. You will want to disable location sharing in Family Sharing to prevent this. Do this by going to Settings > [your name] > Family Sharing, then scroll down and tap Location. There's more information here about this feature here, which you can turn off by using the steps we just provided: Share locations with family members and locate their lost devices on iPhone - Apple Support.

Keep us updated.

Hello zakaria265,

You are more than welcome to leave feedback here if you prefer: Product Feedback - Apple

Are you sharing your Apple ID with your family members? If you are, that would mean they can see the devices attached to your Apple ID. You'll want to use separate Apple IDs to prevent this.

Otherwise, if you think this is done in error, reach out to Apple directly for more technical help here: Get Support

Thanks.
