Hi There,
When logging onto my MacBook Air 2017 this morning the DOCK has disappeared (not hidden, gone), the colour scheme has change and numerous shortcut functions; like changing between apps has stopped working.
Difficult to start up and use applications. Any suggestions?

Did you try to boot into safe mode and see it the problem still exists after that?
macOS will also check the Mac for issues during that phase.
After that shut it down and see if you can boot as normal again.
